The Janus Academy grew out of a dream, held by a group of passionate and
determined parents. It was established in 1996, as a specialized school
for children with autism that has given families with autistic children
the gift of hope. Hope that their child can push back the daunting
boundaries imposed by this complex disorder and contribute to their
families and their community to the greatest extent possible. The Janus
Academy implements a highly intensive program designed to foster maximum
growth and strives to create a positive learning environment that allows
each student to thrive. Class sizes are kept small to maintain n a 1:1
teacher to child ratio ensuring the individual needs of each child
remains the primary objective. It has been growing and flourishing,
gaining recognition and respect year after year from the community and
various organizations.
Tuition fees and government funding only cover a portion of the
operating costs of the Janus Academy. In fact, to educate one child per
year, it costs approximately $40,000. This money is well invested as
every year; we observe amazing progress in each student. This year, we
must raise over $300,000 to maintain program excellence for these able
learners.
