Corporate History

First Calgary Financial was formed on March 18, 1987 when eight open-bond credit unions amalgamated and two additional credit unions were purchased. With First Calgary Financial, an organization was created that was well-suited to Calgary’s competitive financial services marketplace and better equipped to respond to the changing needs of Calgarians while maintaining the ‘personal touch’ style of credit unions.

First Calgary Financial’s predecessor credit unions were: Allalta Credit Union, Apex Savings and Credit Union, Bridgeland Savings and Credit Union, Cal-City Credit Union, Calgary Federal Credit Union, Columbus Savings and Credit Union, Co-op Centre Credit Union, Ogden Savings and Credit Union, Tuxedo Savings and Credit Union and Union Centre Savings and Credit Union. Since the amalgamation, First Calgary Financial has continued to evolve to deliver the best available financial products and services to our members.
