Making it easier to remember – GENERATE CHOICE® Home Solar will now be known simply as Home Solar from ENMAX Energy Corporation*. Since we started installing Home Solar in Alberta, ENMAX Energy has installed more than 500 kilowatts of micro-generation. In 2012, a six module solar PV system installed by ENMAX Energy produced an average of 1593 kWh for the year.

This project is possible thanks to funding from the Climate Change and Emissions Management (CCEMC) Corporation. The CCEMC’s mandate is “to establish or participate in funding initiatives that reduce GHG emissions or improve Alberta’s ability to adapt to climate change.”
Use the power of the sun to power your home:
In Alberta, for every 1kW of solar PV, which is typically 4-5 solar panels, you can expect to generate approximately 900 — 1,300 kWh per year. The average home in Alberta uses 7,200 kWh of electricity per year1. There are a number of factors that may improve the performance of a solar PV system including:
-A south-facing roof can produce approximately 10% more electricity than a roof that is not south facing.
-A roof slope of 45° can produce approximately 15% more electricity than a roof slope of 14°.
-Direct sunlight greatly increases production compared to shaded or obstructed panels.
-Sunny weather will greatly increase production compared to cloudy weather.
